Suarez believes poor Liverpool form will leave Reds stronger

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez believes the patchy form shown by the club in the Premier League will leave the side stronger when their results improve, the Liverpool Echo has reported.

Despite triumphing in Saturday’s Merseyside derby FA Cup semi-final with Everton, Liverpool’s league form has seen them slump to eighth, a place below the Toffees. A run of six defeats in seven league games was however ended with a dramatic late win over Blackburn Rovers days before the Wembley showpiece, and Suarez feels the disappointing results prior to the Ewood Park victory will bond the players closer.

He said: “No team has success after success. Even the very best of all time have had bad periods, but it is how they react that defines them. If you react in the right way and support each other adversity can be a good thing in the long run because you become stronger.

Suarez scored in Liverpool’s victory over Everton on Saturday, latching on to Sylvain Distin’s under-hit back-pass to equalise the scores after Nikica Jelavic had put David Moyes’ side ahead in the first-half. The goal was Suarez’s 14th of the season and 18th overall since moving to Anfield from Ajax in January 2011.
