Tuesday 24 April 2012

The transfer of Germany international Lukas Podolski from FC Koln to Arsenal has been given the go-ahead by the Bundesliga side after months of wrangling, the Metro has reported.

Podolski’s suggested move to the Premier League is a transfer that has dragged on for some time now but the home stretch appears in sight, as the season draws to an end and the striker’s current employers reportedly agree to sanction the sale. The newspaper puts the fee Arsenal will pay for Podolski at under £10m for the original transfer, with more to come dependent on appearances, goals and trophies won while at the Emirates Stadium.

The 26-year-old will bring a wealth of experience to North London, having made almost 100 appearances for the national team, scoring 43 in 95 games for Die Manschaft. Podolski has also played for Bayern Munich between 2006 and 2009, scoring 15 goals in 71 appearances for the Bavarian giants.
