Reina believes Liverpool have improved from last season
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has revealed his belief that the Reds have improved this season as compared to the last campaign, the Daily Mail has reported, with the Spain international citing the club’s League Cup victory and FA Cup final appearance as evidence.
Reina said: “There’s no doubt we’ve improved from last season already. We’ve won the Carling Cup with the possibility of a second while also qualifying for Europe.”
Liverpool defeated Cardiff City on penalties to claim the League Cup and saw off Merseyside rivals Everton in the FA Cup semi-finals to book a second showpiece in a matter of months, this time against Premier League competitors Chelsea. In the league Liverpool are currently eighth with 46 points, two points behind Everton, having drawn nine of their 17 home games this season.
A year ago Liverpool ended the season in sixth having sacked Roy Hodgson and appointed Kenny Dalglish mid-way through the campaign. With four league games still to play this season Liverpool are 12 points adrift of their final total for last season, the same number that is still available as the 2011-12 season draws to a close.
