Corluka criticises Redknapp after Tottenham slump

Friday 27 April 2012

Vedran Corluka, the Tottenham Hotspur defender currently on loan at Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, has blamed manager Harry Redknapp for the loss of form that has left Spurs outside the Champions League places, the London Evening Standard has reported.

Tottenham have gone from challenging for the Premier League title with Manchester United and Manchester City to fifth in the table, three points behind Newcastle United in fourth place and six adrift of North London rivals Arsenal. Spurs were also unceremoniously dumped out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage by Chelsea, who routed Redknapp’s side 5-1 at Wembley.

Corluka revealed he could see Tottenham’s form slipping further, adding: “I wouldn’t be surprised if they finished sixth. They didn’t rotate enough. They don’t have enough depth on the bench.

The Croatian joined Spurs from Manchester City in 2008 and has made 110 appearances for the White Hart Lane outfit. Deemed surplus to requirements in the January transfer window, Corluka, 26, has the option of joining Leverkusen on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
