Liverpool close in on signing Ramirez

Sunday 29 April 2012

Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez could be on his way to Anfield after Liverpool have reportedly made an offer, The Daily Mail reports.

Pablo Bentancur, Ramirez’s agent, has revealed there has been an offer from an unnamed Premier League side, which is believed to be the Reds. The Uruguayan midfielder has enjoyed an excellent campaign with Bologna so far and although signing a new deal earlier this season, Ramirez could be open to leaving. The 21 year old has scored six goals in 30 appearances this term and has attracted attention from a host of top sides.

Bologna president Albano Guaraldi has confirmed that Ramirez wants to move to a bigger club and Liverpool will face competition from plenty of teams across Europe. Liverpool signed Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam to bolster their midfield this season, but it seems Kenny Dalglish is not afraid to go out and buy another player to try and get back into the Champions League. Bentancur believes a decision over Ramirez’s future will be reached at the end of the season and the offer from the Premier League side is believed to be £16.3m.

Bentancur said: “Bologna have received an offer near to 20 million euros from an important club in the Premier League. Bologna will decide at the end of the season what they are going to do.”
