Monday 30 April 2012

Chelsea interim manager Roberto Di Matteo has hailed the confidence coursing through his side following the Blues’ devastating win over Queens Park Rangers and progression to the Champions League final, AFP has reported.

After at times looking frail under Di Matteo’s predecessor Andre Villas-Boas, Di Matteo has admitted his squad are relishing every fixture that comes their way in a hectic end to the season. As well as their three remaining Premier League games Chelsea face finals in both the FA Cup, against Liverpool next weekend, and the Champions League, against Bayern Munich in Bayern’s own Allianz Arena at the end of May.

Di Matteo said: “It's great for the club that we have all these players full of confidence and everybody wants to play. The whole team looks full of confidence and that is the only way we can be successful.

A Fernando Torres hat-trick grabbed the headlines of Chelsea’s 6-1 win over QPR, while goals from Daniel Sturridge, John Terry and Florent Malouda completed the rout. Torres now has four goals in his last two games having also scored in the Nou Camp to seal Chelsea’s two-legged victory over Barcelona and place in the Champions League final.
