Kaboul confident of playing in Champions League with Tottenham

Monday 07 May 2012

Tottenham Hotspur Younes Kaboul is confident he will be representing the club in the Champions League next season, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

The centre-back admitted it is his dream to play in the Champions League but feels Tottenham will do enough to make the competition. Spurs are currently fourth, a position that would ordinarily be good enough to qualify for the tournament, however if Chelsea win the Champions League itself then they would take the final Champions League qualification place afforded to the Premier League, condemning the fourth-place side in the table to the Europa League.

Tottenham then may need to finish third to guarantee their place in next season’s Champions League, with Arsenal currently in possession of that position. Spurs are a point behind the Gunners and will be at home for their final game of the season, against Fulham, while Arsenal have to travel to West Bromwich Albion.

Kaboul said: “As a professional footballer the dream is to play Champions League football every season. We have the players to play at that level. I would be gutted if we do not achieve that. But I think we will. When you have had a taste of the Champions League you have to make sure that you are playing in it every year.
