Mancini to stage Manchester City clear-out even if Premier League title is won

Thursday 10 May 2012

Roberto Mancini will sell as many as eight of his Manchester City players even if they are crowned Premier League champions this weekend, the Daily Mirror has reported. Among the names heading towards the exit door are Nigel de Jong, Adam Johnson and Edin Dzeko.

They are to be joined by Kolo Toure and Stefan Savic, the latter a centre-back who only arrived at the Etihad Stadium last summer. Rounding out the eight will be three players who have spent either the whole season or a significant part of it on loan elsewhere - Emmanuel Adebayor, who is currently with Tottenham Hotspur, Roque Santa Cruz, playing this season with Real Betis, and Wayne Bridge, who joined Sunderland in January.

The Mirror adds that Mancini wants to oversee a spending spree that could top £100m, with the likes of Lille winger Eden Hazard, Napoli pair Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie all on the Italian’s wish list.
