Kompany hails miracle Manchester City title win
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has described his side’s Premier League title win as crazy, and that it is proof miracles do not just happen to Manchester United, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
City clinched their first Premier League title and first top-flight league trophy since 1968 on a dramatic final day of the season. The two Manchester clubs went into the last round of fixtures separated by only eight goals, with United needing to beat Sunderland and hope City slipped up against Queens Park Rangers for the title to remain at Old Trafford.
United took the lead against Black Cats and City did likewise against the R’s, which meant the title seemed destined for the Etihad Stadium, but two second-half Rangers goals tilted the balance towards United. That was until City scored twice in injury time to win the match 3-2 and claim the title in the most stunning fashion and by the slimmest of margins.
Kompany said: “Miracles do happen in Manchester, but it’s this side of the road this time. This game was crazy, there is no other word to describe it.”
