Toure calls for more Manchester City success

Monday 14 May 2012

Yaya Toure has celebrated winning the Premier League title with Manchester City but warned the club should already be thinking about adding more trophies next season, the Guardian has reported.

City won their first league title since 1968 with two last-gasp goals against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, inching past Manchester United by the tight margin of eight goals as the Premier League was decided on goal difference. Toure, who scored six league goals in the season just ended, admitted he expects the future to be even more thrilling for City than this season.

He said: “We have been unbelievable. I thank all but next year will be more and I hope City will become a great club in the world. I will think about the new season and I hope it will be more exciting than the last one.

Toure has now won league titles in four different countries, beginning with his native Ivory Coast in 2001. After moving on Toure won the championship in Greece in 2005-06 with Olympiakos, and two La Liga titles with Barcelona, in 2008-09 and 2009-10. Toure also won the Champions League during his time in Catalonia, defeating Manchester United in the final in 2008-09.
