Aquilani Liverpool future to be decided soon

Wednesday 16 May 2012

The future of Italy midfielder Alberto Aquilani will be decided by the end of the month according to the player’s agent, after the player’s loan spell at Milan came to an end without Aquilani playing enough games to trigger a move from Liverpool, the Liverpool Echo has reported.

The 27-year-old spent the season at the San Siro, having spent the entirety of the last campaign with Juventus, who this year were crowned Serie A champions after going the whole season undefeated. Milan finished as runners-up but Aquilani did not play the required 25 games to bring about a £5m move to the Rossoneri.

Aquilani’s agent said his client would have played the necessary number if not for injury, and added that if a deal cannot be agreed with Milan, Aquilani would report for pre-season training at Melwood. Kenny Dalglish has previously said he would welcome Aquilani back to the club, but Aquilani is understood to wish to remain in Italy.
