Fabianski wants to leave Arsenal this summer

Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski wants to leave the club this summer in an effort to play first team football next season, the Metro has reported.

The 27-year-old Poland international has fallen behind compatriot and national team colleague Wojciech Szczesny in the Emirates Stadium pecking order and did not feature at all in the Premier League last season, playing only briefly in the Champions League instead. Fabianski is part of Poland’s provisional Euro 2012 squad but faces the prospect of being Szcznesy’s understudy there too.

Fabianski joined Arsenal in 2007 from Legia Warsaw but has made only 62 appearances in five years, never nailing down the No 1 jersey as his own. Fabianski revealed that he asked to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window and was aware of offers from two clubs, but Arsene Wenger would not sanction his departure. He added that if he does leave Arsenal this summer he wishes to remain in a strong league.
