Fabianski set on Arsenal exit

Sunday 20 May 2012

Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is determined to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer after falling down the pecking order, Metro reports.

The 27 year old made no Premier League appearances last season and played just 25 minutes in Europe with the Gunners after the emergence of Wojciech Szczesny. Fabianski’s fellow Polish international has established himself as the main man at Arsenal, as well as the Poland number one, and with Szczesny only being 22, the long-term future at Arsenal is bleak for Fabianski.

Since joining the Gunners from Legia Warsaw in 2007, Fabianski has only made 62 appearances in North London and has been unable to make the goalkeeping position his own. Now, the 27 year old has acknowledged that his career with the Gunners is over and revealed that there were two offers for him in January, but Arsene Wenger kept Fabianski for cover. The Frenchman may want to hold the Pole as backup to Szczesny, but Fabianski is hopeful that he can leave North London this summer.

Fabianski said: “I hope my adventure with Arsenal is over. I want to leave and play in a strong league, but I do not know what the boss thinks. I also wanted to go in the winter. There were two offers, but Arsene Wenger did not give the green light.”
