Villas-Boas to take time deciding over Liverpool position

Monday 21 May 2012

Andre Villas-Boas will not make a snap judgement over whether or not he wants to replace Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool, the Independent has reported.

The newspaper adds that Villas-Boas is keen to return to management after leaving Chelsea in March but wants a club that has a clear plan for the future in place, and requires more information about what Liverpool will expect from their new manager before he agrees to take the position.

Villas-Boas’ agent reportedly met with Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, last week and the Independent describes the Portuguese as “emerging as the clear favourite” to fill the vacancy. But Villas-Boas endured an unhappy time at Chelsea earlier this season and, in an attempt not to repeat the mistakes he made when taking the post at Stamford Bridge, wants to know more about the structure FSG are implanting at Liverpool and the finances with which they are doing it. Roberto Martinez is said to be the other main contender.
