Arsenal told to move fast on Chelsea midfielder Benayoun

Arsenal have been told they will have to move quickly if they want to sign Yossi Benayoun on a permanent basis from Chelsea, the Daily Mail has reported.

Benayoun spent last season on loan at the Emirates Stadium from the Champions League winners and helped Arsene Wenger’s side to third place in the Premier League, scoring six goals in 25 games, including netting twice in the final three games of the season. But the Mail adds Wenger is undecided about whether or not to extend the Israeli’s stay in North London, hence Chelsea’s deadline.

Benayoun moved to Chelsea from Liverpool in 2010 but made only 11 appearances in an injury-hit spell at Stamford Bridge, a ruptured Achilles in September 2010 limiting his playing time and ruling him out of action until April 2011.

The 32-year-old first came to English football with West Ham United, moving to Upton Park from Racing Santander in Spain in 2005, spending two years with the hammers before switching to Liverpool.
