Tottenham keen on Olsson

Thursday 24 May 2012

West Brom central defender Jonas Olsson is the target of Harry Redknapp’s affections, as Tottenham look to improve their backline, The Mirror reports.

The 29 year old has just 12 months left on his contract at the Hawthorns and could be available on a cut-price deal for around £3m. Spurs struggled with defensive injuries last season, with Ledley King, Michael Dawson, William Gallas and Younes Kaboul all suffering from problems. Redknapp’s side missed out on the Champions League, but Olsson could be interested in the move and West Brom are not likely to stand in the way of the Swedish international.

Olsson has commented on his own future in the past, stating that he would decide on his future following Euro 2012. West Brom are currently manager less after Roy Hodgson’s appointment and Olsson may be looking for a big final move as he approaches the twilight years of his career.

Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles is also a target for Redknapp after impressing during his loan spell at League One side Stevenage this season. The England under 19 international could be available for £1m, but Spurs will have to fight North London rivals Arsenal for Lascelles.
