Man Utd interested in Milan playmaker

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in making a move for AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, The Daily Mail reports.

United missed out on signing Wesley Sneijder last summer and Ferguson is looking to sign a new midfielder, despite Paul Scholes signing a new deal to keep him at Old Trafford for another season. Ferguson has been impressed with the 25 year old’s performances in the San Siro, who already has Premier League experience during spells at Portsmouth and Tottenham.

Milan are contemplating whether to offer Boateng a new deal or use the money they would receive from his sale to sign Santos starlet Ganso. The Ghanaian international scored nine goals in 27 appearances last season, but concerns are still awry over his physical fitness and fragility. Boateng’s current deal runs out in 2015, so United would have to pay a sizeable fee to take the midfielder away from Milan. If a deal for Boateng fails to materialise, Ferguson has two other playmakers on his mind to try and bring success back to United after they missed out on last season’s title

Borussia Dortmund playmaker Shinji Kagawa is the Scotsman’s secondary target, with United looking to make an improved £13m bid, but Lille’s Eden Hazard is number one on the Old Trafford list.

The Belgian international has confirmed he is moving to the Premier League and United will be able to get another look at him when Belgium face England at Wembley in an international friendly on June 2nd.
