Swansea goalkeeper Vorm hails new Liverpool boss Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers, the newly-appointed manager of Liverpool, has been praised as the best possible choice for the Anfield club by one of the players he has left behind at Swansea City, goalkeeper Michel Vorm, according to Press Association.

Rodgers was officially appointed by Liverpool on Friday after guiding Swansea to 11th in their first season in the Premier League, only five points adrift of Liverpool who ended a disappointing campaign in eighth. Vorm, who was signed by Rodgers in August last year, revealed he believed Liverpool had appointed one of the best managers in the country.

Vorm added: “I think it’s the best move Liverpool can make. I’ve worked with him for a year and he’s the best manager I’ve worked with. I think he is the best manager maybe in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old, who is currently with the Netherlands squad preparing for Euro 2012, added that Rodgers’ departure is disastrous for the Welsh side. But Vorm added that if the club pulls together and supports the new manager, they can keep performing in the top flight and stick to the principles of good football laid down by Rodgers.

Vorm continued: “For us it's the worst thing that could happen. It's disappointing but I think we showed throughout the season what we're capable of. If we can keep the club together we can go on playing good football under the new manager.
