Sunday 03 June 2012

Arsenal are interested in signing 18-year-old Crewe Alexandra midfielder Nick Powell, reports the Daily Mail.

Powell impressed with Crewe in a season when they gained promotion to League One, thanks also to a play-off victory over Cheltenham, where Powell netted. He made 41 league appearances, and scored 15 goals.

This form has seen the player linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in recent weeks, but according to the report, Arsenal are now ready to join in the chase for the hot prospect.

Powell made his Crewe debut at the age of 16, having been with the club from the age of 5. He has also represented England at under-18 level.

It is reported that a fee in the region of £10m would be required to bring the player to the Premier League. Powell was first linked with a move to Arsenal back in June 2012, when he was just a 16-year-old.
