Chelsea considering double Arsenal swoop for Walcott and Sagna

Monday 04 June 2012

Chelsea’s summer rebuilding process could see the club look across London for two more new faces, with Arsenal’s right-sided pair Theo Walcott and Bacary Sagna said by the Metro to be on the shortlist.

The Stamford Bridge side have already sealed a deal for Marko Marin, the Germany midfielder, while Belgium’s Eden Hazard is widely expected to follow suit. But after the departures of Jose Bosingwa and Salomon Kalou the Blues are reported to be in the market for new faces on their right flank.

Sagna, right-back, joined Arsenal in 2007, moving to the Premier League from Auxerre, and has gone on to make more than 200 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side. Last season the 29-year-old suffered two serious injuries that limited his playing time to only 29 club games, with the latter blow ruling the France international out of Euro 2012.

Walcott has been at Arsenal since January 2006, moving as a teenager from Southampton. The England international, part of his country’s Euro 2012 squad, has 220 Arsenal appearances to his name and 42 goals, including 11 efforts in 45 games last season.
