Chelsea next target Everton’s Fellaini

Having already wrapped up the signings of Marko Marin and Eden Hazard Chelsea will next turn to Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini as their summer spending spree continues, according to the Daily Mail.

The transfers are being driven by the club’s owner, Roman Abramovich, and the newspaper reports that £20m will be offered to the Goodison Park club in exchange for their Belgium international. Fellaini, 24, played for his country against England last weekend and has been an Everton player since 2008, when David Moyes made him Everton’s record signing in a £15m transfer from Standard Liege.

The Mail believes Fellaini would be allowed to move to Stamford Bridge if Everton received a substantial profit on the money they originally paid out for the player. However, Fellaini signed a new, long-term contract with Everton in late 2011.

In his time on Merseyside Fellaini has made 137 appearances, scoring 20 goals. The newspaper suggests Fellaini is seen as a replacement for Michael Essien and Frank Lampard, and while he may be considered primarily a defensive player, in Everton’s latter fixtures last season the towering Fellaini was used as a second striker in support of Nikica Jelavic to good effect, with the Liverpool Echoquoting Moyes as suggesting Fellaini’s long-term future was in a forward role.

Fellaini can come in, but pls, let him trim his hair down a little. I gets scared with those forested hairs. He is a solid, serious & rugged player on the pitch.
