Chelsea retain hope of Battersea stadium

Chelsea have not yet given up hope of getting the go ahead to build their new stadium on the site of Battersea Power Station, the Independent has reported, despite another interested party being named the preferred bidder for the site.

The Premier League side had submitted an offer to buy the land the power station sits upon, with the intention of knocking down the building to make way for a 60,000 capacity ground. But a Malaysian firm were confirmed earlier this week as the preferred bidder after a closed envelope process - SP Setia and Sime Darby are said to have a £400m deal in place to buy the site, with the administrators and receivers of the property having agreed to accept the highest offer.

Chelsea however have their fingers crossed that the proposed new owners will pull out of the deal at a later stage after examining the finer details of the plan, or possibly make it a joint venture with the club. If Chelsea do not have the option of Battersea, the Independent adds that their other options for a new stadium are severely limited.

cfc sure needs a replacement for Drogba and Hulk fits that profile;or else give Lukaku more playing time and cfc may yet have another Drogba.
