Salomon Kalou would be interested in remaining in the Premier League with Liverpool, the player’s agent has confirmed, after the Ivory Coast international left Chelsea at the end of the season, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Brendan Rodgers, the new Liverpool manager, is familiar with Kalou from his time working as a coach at Chelsea, and could make a move for the forward, available on a free transfer, as a way of bolstering his options at little cost.

While Kalou’s agent denied there had been an approach from the Anfield club, Rodger Linse told the Echo that his client appreciates Liverpool’s interest. He added: “ Of course Liverpool is a very big club. It is definitely positive to hear that a big club like them are showing an interest in Salomon, though it is too early to say anything definitive at this stage.

Kalou spent six years at Chelsea, moving to Stamford Bridge from Feyenoord in 2006. In his time in blue the 26-year-old won the FA Cup three times, the League Cup, the Premier League and the Champions League, the latter being claimed in 2012 with Kalou part of the starting XI.
