Corluka warns of Tottenham exodus after Redknapp departure

Friday 15 June 2012

Vedran Corluka believes a number of important Tottenham Hotspur players could follow Harry Redknapp out the door at White Hart Lane, as the likes of Luka Modric, Rafael van der Vaart and Gareth Bale look for moves elsewhere in search of Champions League football, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Redknapp was sacked this week after failing to agree terms on a new contract with chairman Daniel Levy and Corluka, who ended the season on loan at German side Bayer Leverkusen and is expected to move to the club on a permanent basis, feels Modric is likely to lead the way.

Corluka said: “We all know it will be very difficult for Spurs to keep him because there is not Champions League football there next season. Luka showed some loyalty last season by staying at Spurs last season when other teams wanted him.

The Mirror add that Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Modric, the Croatian international, while van der Vaart is on the shopping list of Schalke 04 and Bale is a long-term target of Barcelona. Corluka also admitted his time as a Tottenham player is drawing to a close after losing his place in the side.
