Man Utd consider move for Barcelona midfielder

Manchester United could be set to make a bid for Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The Daily Mail are reporting that the 21-year-old is on the radar of Sir Alex Ferguson after the midfielder admitted to being frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities at the Nou Camp.

Thiago has had his short Barcelona career hindered by being stuck behind the likes of Xavi and Cesc Fabregas but has managed to feature on a semi-regular basis – playing 35 times and getting himself four goals – including appearances in a number of El Classico’s and Champions League fixtures. He has also made 3 appearances for the Spanish national side, having played through all of their youth squads; he debuted for the senior team in 2011 against Italy.

It remains to be seen if the interest from Manchester United comes as a result of a struggle to complete a deal for Tottenham’s Luka Modric or if Thiago would be bought as part of a double swoop. AC Milan are also interested in signing the Spanish international and a price of £21 million pounds appears to be their quoted figure.
