Drogba considering next move after leaving Chelsea

Monday 18 June 2012

Didier Drogba, the former Chelsea striker who scored the decisive penalty to give the club victory in the Champions League final, is considering his next move after his contract at Stamford Bridge expired, Yahoo Sports has reported.

Drogba has been strongly linked with a move to Shanghai Shenhua in China, the team of former Chelsea colleague Nicolas Anelka. The Shanghai Coach, Sergio Batista, recently confirmed the club was in talks with Drogba, but Drogba declined to elaborate further on his future other than claiming it would be an “interesting” step.

In the eight years Drogba spent with Chelsea after moving from Marseille, he scored 157 goals in 342 appearances, including 100 league goals in 226 league games. It was a trophy-laden period for the Ivory Coast international, as he picked up four FA Cup winners’ medals, the Premier League three times, the League Cup twice, the Community Shield twice and finally the Champions League.
