No Chelsea offer for Jovetic, say Fiorentina
Italian side Fiorentina have denied receiving an offer from Chelsea for their Montenegro international forward Stevan Jovetic, ESPN have reported. The Premier League club had been linked with a £20m move for the 22-year-old, while Juventus are also said to be monitoring the situation.
Daniel Prade, La Viola’s sporting director, dismissed the claims in a radio interview. He said: “Absolutely not, it's not true. We do not know anything about an offer from Chelsea or any other team, Italian or otherwise.” ESPN add that Jovetic had ignited speculation over his future by declining to commit himself to Fiorentina when pushed earlier in the summer.
Jovetic moved to Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in 2008, and has gone on to score 27 goals in 101 games for the club. At 19 Jovetic became Partizan’s youngest ever captain and was one of the Montenegro national team’s first ever players, appearing as part of the starting XI for the country’s inaugural match as an independent nation in 2007, against Hungary. Jovetic has since scored nine goals in 20 games for Montenegro.
