Everton’s Moyes denies Tottenham contact

Bookmark and Share

By Andrew Tuft

Monday 18 June 2012

Everton manager David Moyes has insisted there has been no contact between himself and Tottenham Hotspur as his name is linked with the vacancy created at White Hart Lane when Harry Redknapp was sacked, the Liverpool Daily Post has reported.

Moyes was one of the early favourites for the position but the Scot says there have been no discussions between Spurs and his representatives, with Moyes adamant that to connect his name with Tottenham is merely speculation.

With just a year to go on his contract Moyes may have appeared vulnerable to interest from elsewhere, but after marking his 10th anniversary at Goodison Park in March, the manager stressed that while he remains ambitious, his goal is to win a trophy with his current club rather than decamp elsewhere. Moyes and Everton owner Bill Kenwright have met to discuss a new contract, with further talks due to take place in the coming weeks.
