Tottenham players not keen on Villas-Boas link

Tottenham’s recruitment of a new manager after the departure of Harry Redknapp has taken another hit today amid reports that a number of players at White Hart Lane are unhappy about the potential appointment of current bookies favourite Andre Villas-Boas.

The Daily Mail have suggested that the players are already not pleased after Redknapp was let go but the appointment of Villas-Boas is not a welcome move. The root of this lack of enthusiasm for the Portuguese manager seems to be coming from his time at Chelsea last season.

Whilst in charge of the Blue there were constant murmurings of the 34-year-old alienating players, giving preferential treatment and all the while overseeing some extremely poor performances – managing only 19 wins in 40 games. Meaning that the team that finished runners-up the season before, come February were struggling to keep their place in the top four.

Of course his career as a manager hasn’t been all unsuccessful, a wealth of trophies at Porto - including a treble winning season – is what attracted the Chelsea owner to Villas-Boas and could be the reason behind Daniel Levy’s interest.

Great story, Daily Mail "exclusive". AVB did a fantastic job for spurs at the bridge.

No quotes absolutely does not mean i isnt true, it only means it isnt public - if a player wanted to get across to media that he didnt want avb, do you really think he'd put it on the record? no, he says it on the condition it is off the record. Anyway, i dont think the players should concern themselves with who is manager, they need to play for whoever is in charge, its trhir job,.
