Chelsea have Moses bid rejected

Tuesday 19 June 2012

Champions League winners Chelsea have had their approach for Wigan Athletic forward Victor Moses swiftly rejected, according to Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old has been an integral part of the Lancashire club’s survival in the Premier League, adding six goals in 37 appearances; Moses has attracted the attention of several clubs and it seems Chelsea, having lodged a bid for the player yesterday have seen it rejected.

New Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has reignited his interest in Moses whom he tried to sign for West Bromwich Albion in 2010, saying: "I don't know how close we came to signing him, We look at young talented players and he certainly fitted that bill. He was a player we liked at the time."

Though the Chelsea approach has been rejected, Sky Sports sources understand that the Blues will resume talks with Wigan after reportedly falling just short of their valuation of the Nigerian international.

Chelsea will have to act fast if they are to tie up a potential deal for the Winger, as a number of clubs are reportedly monitoring the situation. With Moses stalling on a contract extension and having only 12 months left to run on his contract, Wigan could look to cash in on their player.
