Sunderland want Saha after Tottenham exit

Wednesday 20 June 2012

Louis Saha is a target for Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill following the former Everton striker’s release from Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season, the Daily Mail has reported.

Saha, 33, moved to Tottenham from Everton late in the January transfer window. The Mail notes that the former France international was criticised by some Spurs fans for praising Chelsea on their Champions League victory after it led to Tottenham being demoted to the Europa League next season.

Formerly of Manchester United and Fulham, Saha scored four goals in 12 games during his brief Tottenham career, netting twice on only his second appearance, a 5-0 win over Newcastle United, once against Arsenal in a 5-2 defeat and once against Bolton Wanderers in a 3-1 FA Cup victory. Previously, Saha had scored only twice in 20 games for Everton, and recorded a total 35 goals in 115 games while at Goodison Park.
