Liverpool and Everton in battle for Castaignos
Merseyside is set to go to battle for the signature of Inter Milan striker Luc Castaignos.
According to reports in the Sun, both Liverpool and Everton are keen on bringing the 19-year-old to the Premier League in a deal estimated at £4.5 million, but first both sides will explore a loan option.
Castaignos has attracted a lot of interest since his debut for Feyenoord in 2009 -going on to play 37 times in the Eredivisie and scoring 15 goals- at just 16 years of age. He signed for Inter Milan in 2011 for around £2 million and managed to make 6 appearances, netting once in the Serie A.
It is thought that other Premier League sides such as West Ham and Newcastle are exploring the option to bring the Dutch youngster to England but only Liverpool and Everton are preparing offers.
He is yet to play for the Dutch senior team but has featured heavily in the national youth squads. He was a key member of the U17’s that finished runners-up to hosts Germany in the European Under-17’s Championships in 2009, picking up the golden boot in the process.
