Vargas open to Liverpool move

Wednesday 27 June 2012

Juan Manuel Vargas, Fiorentina’s Peruvian winger, would consider a move to the Premier League with Liverpool, his agent has claimed, after revealing the Reds are interested in his client, ESPN has reported.

Jorge Cyterszpiler claimed that Malaga are also thinking about an offer for the 28-year-old, who has a year remaining on his contract with La Viola but has been strongly linked with a move away from the club. Vargas moved to Fiorentina from Catania in 2008, the Florence side paying €12m for the left-sided midfielder.

Vargas moved to Italy with Catania in 2006, having previously played in Argentina for Colon, and before that in his homeland for Universitario, leaving Peru in 2004. A Peruvian international with more than 30 caps to his name, Vargas is also capable of playing at left-back or as a left-sided attacker. Vargas was also part of the Peru team that finished third in the 2011 Copa America.
