Man Utd increase Rodriguez offer

Wednesday 27 June 2012

Manchester United have increased their interest in Porto winger James Rodriguez after weeks of speculation.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Premier League runners-up had a deal in excess of £30 million rejected by the Portuguese champions – it is thought Porto want the £40 million buy-out-clause met if they are to sell their youngster.

There had been conjecture that Manchester United would offer Anderson as part of the deal but Porto seem to be uninterested in a player-exchange, opting instead for cash.

Rodriguez has become one of Europe’s most wanted this past year, despite being just 20 – turning 21 in July – he has managed 14 goals in 37 league games for Porto attracting attention from the continent’s elite.

He made his debut for the Colombia national side in 2011 and has got himself 5 caps with 1 goal.

Reports that Rodriguez is being lined up as a replacement for Nani seem to be false, Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on signing the young attacker regardless of if the Portuguese star stays.
