Wenger cools interest in M'Vila

Sunday 01 July 2012

Arsene Wenger is set to end his pursuit for the signature of French midfielder Yann M’Vila.

According to the Miror, the Arsenal boss was less than impressed with the Rennes player after he appeared to have reacted badly after being substituted for Olivier Giroud – who has just signed for the North London club – in the quarter-final against Spain.

M’Vila refused to shake the hand of his replacement and snubbed Laurent Blanc, opting instead to walk away from the [then] France manager.

Since debuting for the Rennes senior team in 2008, M’Vila has gone on to play 130 times and has contributed three goals from defensive midfield. Since debuting for France in 2010, he has been a constant member of the national team squad. To date he has 22 caps for his country and has one goal to his name.

It is thought a fee in the region of £7.5 million had been on the table but Wenger is now ready to pull the plug, based on the 22-year-old’s dramatics last week.
