Liverpool and Newcastle consider former Chelsea winger Kalou

Tuesday 03 July 2012

Salomon Kalou, the Ivory Coast winger who left Chelsea this summer after six years at Stamford Bridge, could remain in the Premier League as both Liverpool and Newcastle United consider moves for the free agent, ESPN has reported.

Kalou, 26, joined Chelsea from Feyenoord in 2006 and won a number of trophies during his time in London, including the Premier League once, the FA Cup four times, the League Cup and, last season, the Champions League. But Kalou was allowed to leave Chelsea when his contract expired at the end of June, having scored 60 goals in his Blues career and being awarded a starting berth in the finals of both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Rodger Lindse, Kalou’s agent, confirmed his client would be interested in moving to Anfield but stressed there was little more than speculation over the deal, while ESPN adds Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation.
