Villas-Boas ready to spend at Tottenham

Wednesday 04 July 2012

New Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas will not be shy in brandishing the club’s chequebook, the Daily Mail has reported, as the former Chelsea boss prepares a £50m overhaul of the squad at his disposal.

Spurs are said to be willing to let Villas-Boas splash out in order to guarantee a top four finish in next season’s Premier League and with it the place in the Champions League that was denied when Chelsea won the competition outright at the end of last season.

The Mail goes on to list a number of players who Villas-Boas is thought to want to see at White Hart Lane, including Marseille striker Loic Remy, Manchester City’s Emmanuel Adebayor, who spent last season at the club, Ajax’s Jan Vertonghen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Alan Dzagoev and Joao Moutinho, the Portugal playmaker currently with Villas-Boas’ former side Porto.

However it may not be all one-way traffic at Tottenham as Spurs will listen to offers from Real Madrid, Chelsea and the Manchester clubs for Luka Modric, while Rafael van der Vaart could return to Hamburg.

Welcome to Spurs !!!!!!!!!! Really hope AVB would re-establish the style of play in Spurs that captivated me 40 years ago. Tho time and style have changed ........... persistency, consistency, enthusiasm, dare, determination, teamwork and team-spirit are quiessentials to a good team. Am very excited in a new era for Spurs ....... but please do give him time and space.
