Everton confirm Naismith capture

Wednesday 04 July 2012

Everton have completed the signing of Scotland international forward Steven Naismith on a free transfer after the 25-year-old left Rangers following the club’s liquidation, Everton’s official website has confirmed.

Naismith has won 15 caps for his country and will report to Everton’s Finch Farm training ground this week to begin pre-season training after agreeing a four-year contract with David Moyes’ side. Naismith was one of a number of players to reject the transfer of his contract to the so-called newco Rangers after the Glasgow club’s financial problems saw their place in the Scottish Premier League revoked.

A versatile forward capable of playing centrally or on either wing, Naismith moved to Rangers from Kilmarnock in 2007, spending five years at Ibrox and scoring 33 goals in 141 appearances, including 15 games and nine goals last season before a cruciate ligament injury in October ended his campaign early.
