PSG deny interest in Chelsea captain Terry

Thursday 05 July 2012

Paris Saint-Germain have ruled out a rumoured offer for Chelsea captain John Terry after reports suggested Carlo Ancelotti would be reunited with his former Blues skipper, according to the Daily Mail.

The French club are known to be in the market for a centre-back - Ancelotti has admitted as much while a bid for Milan’s Thiago Silva came to nothing - and a move for Terry, who played under Ancelotti between 2009 and 2011, was mooted in the Press. A fee of £8m was suggested but the Italian has rejected the notion that Terry could be about to cross the English Channel.

Ancelotti said: “We are looking for a central defender. The club is in contact with some players, but not Terry.” Ancelotti added that after Paris Saint-Germain finished as Ligue 1 runners-up to shock title winners Montpellier, the main goal of the forthcoming season was to usurp Montpellier at the top of the table as well as compete in the Champions League, noting that it would be more difficult to win than the latter competition than the former.
