Rose welcomes Villas-Boas Tottenham appointment

Monday 09 July 2012

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Rose has praised the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas as the club’s new manager after the Portuguese was drafted in to replace the sacked Harry Redknapp, the Daily Mail has reported.

Rose described the decision to part company with Redknapp as “bold” and described as “pretty great” the decision to hire Villas-Boas instead. Rose added that he has not yet met his new boss but was excited to do so when his time with Team GB is over at the end of July.

Capable of playing on the left of midfield or as a left-back, Rose was picked as part of Stuart Pearce’s squad for the London Olympics despite failing to hold down a regular place in the Spurs team last season. Rose, a former Leeds United youth team player, made 20 appearances for Tottenham in 2011-12, mostly in the FA Cup and Europa League. His season ended early with a red card at Aston Villa in early May.
