Liverpool’s Carroll linked to West Ham loan

Wednesday 11 July 2012

Newly-promoted West Ham United are set to offer Liverpool striker Andy Carroll an escape route after Reds manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed the England international could be allowed to leave Anfield on loan, the Daily Mirror has reported.

The Hammers are lining up with Milan as suitors for Carroll but the Mirror adds the London club believe they could attract Carroll to Upton Park by re-uniting him with former Newcastle United colleague and mentor Kevin Nolan. Nolan, the West Ham captain, and Carroll bonded during their time in the North East and manager Sam Allardyce is said to be hopeful that friendship can trump West Ham’s inability to meet Carroll’s £80,000 a week wage.

Rodgers earlier this week admitted if Carroll does not suit the way in which he sees Liverpool playing he could be loaned out for the coming season, as the former Swansea City boss attempts to introduce the kind of passing game that won promotion and plaudits in Wales.
