Arsenal striker Campbell seals Betis loan

By Gary-Jay Bourley

Wednesday 11 July 2012

ESPN have reported that Arsenal’s Joel Campbell has completed a loan switch to Real Betis for next season, with the deal being confirmed by both clubs.

The deal is thought to have been made so that the 20-year-old can gain valuable first team experience with the added bonus of having him compete in La Liga, one of the world’s top leagues.

It is Campbell’s second spell away from the club since arriving at the Emirates in 2011. Last season he spent the year on loan at FC Lorient where he scored 3 goals in 25 games – he also broke into the Costa Rica first team in 2011 and has since played 14 times and scored 6.

Real Betis kick off their season away from home against last season’s Europa League finalists, Athletic Bilbao. Their first home game will be against Rayo Vallecano. Both of which Joel Campbell will hope he can feature in.
