Fulham in pole position for Rodallega signing

Wednesday 11 July 2012

Fulham are on the verge of getting Hugo Rodallega on a free transfer after the striker opted against signing a new contract at Wigan this season.

According to the Mirror, the Cottagers are ready to swoop for the Colombian, virtually stealing him from the grasps of David Moyes at Everton.

Moyes was hoping to sign the 26-year-old as he continues to build a new strike force – already signing Steven Naismith on a free from struggling Rangers – but it would seem Martin Jol has moved first and quickest to sign the big centre forward.

In January he announced he wished to leave Roberto Martinez’ side amid interest from top European sides, though he didn’t receive any official offers. Now a free agent, he is attracting attention from the likes of Aston Villa and Stoke but it appears his future lies in West London at Fulham.

Rodallega has scored 24 goals in 112 Premier League games for Wigan, making him the club’s leading scorer in the English top flight.
