Villas-Boas believes Chelsea experience a positive step ahead of Spurs challenge
After a less than successful time in his first Premier League job with Chelsea last season, Andre Villas-Boas is confident that he has changed as a manager and will be better at Tottenham.

The Blues owner Roman Abramovich shelled out £13.3m to bring Villas-Boas to Stamford Bridge after his treble-winning season at Porto in the 2010/11 campaign. His time at Chelsea did not work out as expected and Abramovich fired the 34 year old in February after a run of poor results. Tottenham owner Daniel Levy has seen enough of Villas-Boas to bring him back into the Premier League and there will be a lot of expectation on the Portuguese boss to see if he has the quality to succeed in the top-flight.
Villas-Boas has called the experience as Chelsea boss ‘extremely gratifying’ and believes he has changed as a professional. Spurs finished in the top four last season, but thanks to Chelsea’s Champions League success, they will play in the Europa League next season. Villas-Boas is still delighted to be part of the North London side and has fired a parting shot at his former employers, telling the official club website that there is much more of a connection between players and management at Spurs:
“I think my career has been steadily going up and I see this as a step forward. The club is very solid in the way they support the first team, there is much more emotional warmth in this club, and this is important. Based on that, I want to commit myself to the fact I was given this opportunity at such an important club and make sure I repay the confidence that was given to me”, Villas-Boas said.
Spurs begin their campaign against Newcastle on August 18th and Villas-Boas is currently working with the players back at their old Chigwell base, as the new Bulls Cross training ground is under construction. Spurs and their new boss will travel to America to face off in friendlies against Liverpool and MLS sides LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls.
