Tottenham's Modric set for £35m Madrid move
Luka Modric’s transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to La Liga champions Real Madrid could be completed within the next 48 hours, the Daily Mail has reported, with a fee of £35m mooted for the Croatia playmaker.

The deal is expected to be a cash move although there is the lingering possibility Madrid could offer a player as part of the bargain. Turkey international and former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin has been discussed as a possibility and would represent almost a direct replacement for Modric.
According to the Mail Modric has expressed his desire to leave White Hart Lane in search of trophies while Jose Mourinho has settled on Modric as the man to bolster his Madrid midfield. Two of Modric’s potential new teammates, defenders Alvaro Arbeloa and Pepe, have already welcomed the prospect of the 26-year-old moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Modric moved to Tottenham in 2008 from Dinamo Zagreb and has gone on to make 159 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals. Modric was named Spurs’ player of the season for the 2010-11 campaign.
