Van Persie tells Arsenal he favours Juventus move

By Andrew Tuft

Tuesday 17 July 2012

Arsenal captain Robin van Persie has told the club he wants to leave and sign on with Serie A champions Juventus, preferring the Italian side to both Manchester United and Manchester City, the Independent has reported.

Van Persie is being pursued by all three clubs but has informed the Gunners hierarchy that his preference is to play in Italy rather than make the journey to Manchester. The Independent adds that of the Manchester clubs, van Persie would choose United over City, but the prospect of playing for one of Arsenal’s rivals is not welcomed by the Netherlands striker.

Arsene Wenger is thought to echo van Persie’s sentiments, as the manager would not want to see van Persie sold to Manchester City. However, Juventus carry the least financial might of the three parties and could struggle to put together an offer the Arsenal decision makers would find acceptable, a problem that would not be encountered if City were the favoured destination.
