Juventus want Arsenal's van Persie and Liverpool's Suarez

Saturday 21 July 2012

Juventus hope to partner Arsenal captain Robin van Persie with Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, BBC Sport has reported, with the Serie A side believing they can tempt the Gunners captain with the promise of Suarez's arrival, and tempt Liverpool with a big-money offer for the Uruguayan.

The champions of Italy are understood to be one of the three sides to have had an offer for van Persie rejected, along with Premier League duo Manchester City and Manchester United. And while Juventus’ offer was not thought to have been as monetarily attractive to Arsenal or van Persie, the Old Lady believe they can persuade the Netherlands international to opt for them for football rather than financial reasons.

The BBC adds that if Juventus can wrap up a deal for van Persie they will then look to Anfield, where a £28m offer for Suarez could force Liverpool’s hand. Juventus will finance such a bid by selling striker Alessandro Matri to Milan and seek to exploit Liverpool’s contract negotiations with Suarez. Juventus may still move for Suarez even if van Persie heads elsewhere.
