Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh could end his unhappy spell with the Gunners by heading for Turkey, where Besiktas are set to offer the Moroccan international the chance to resurrect his career, the Daily Mail has reported.

Chamakh joined Arsenal on a free transfer from Bordeaux in 2010 and, despite impressing during the early stages of his time at the Emirates Stadium - Chamakh scored 11 goals before the end of November - he has since struggled to replicate that form. Chamakh managed only one more goal in 2010-11 while last season he hit just one in 19 appearances. That goal came as a late effort in a 4-3 defeat away to Blackburn Rovers in September 2011.

Besiktas are said to want an initial loan deal for the 28-year-old with a view to a £4m permanent deal next summer. Already second choice to the unsettled Robin van Persie, Chamakh is expected to fall further down the pecking order in the new season after the arrival of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.
