Tottenham want Hulk and Damiao partnership

Saturday 21 July 2012

Tottenham Hotspur will look to give their forward line a double injection of Brazilian talent by signing both Porto forward Hulk and Internacional striker Leandro Damiao, the Daily Mail has reported.

Scouts from the White Hart Lane side are said to have been present at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium on Friday evening as Brazil defeat Team GB 2-0 in an Olympic football warm-up match. Both Hulk and Damiao started the match, with the former being replaced by Paulo Henrique shortly after the hour mark and Damiao being withdrawn for Milan’s Alexandre Pato not long after.

Tottenham are said to have been keen on Damiao for the last 18 months but have continually baulked at paying Internacional’s £25m price tag. Hulk, meanwhile, is well known by Tottenham Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas from their time working together in Porto and the pair were pictured meeting earlier this week. Both sides however insist it was merely a friendly get-together and not a sign of an imminent transfer.
