Laudrup won’t deny Allen Liverpool move
New Swansea manager Michael Laudrup insists he will not stand in the way of Joe Allen, should the club receive a bid for the player, according to ESPN.
The 22-year-old, who is currently on Olympic duty with Team GB, has been linked with a move to Liverpool where he would join up with former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers. However, a contractual agreement between Swansea and Rodgers is thought to be in place that prevents Liverpool from bidding on current Swansea players.
When quizzed over a potential exit for the Welsh youngster, who impressed last year in his debut Premier League season, Laudrup said: "I am in contact with the chairman every day. We agree that if there will be an approach then we will have to talk to the player. We cannot just answer 100% yes or no without having talked to the player.”
Liverpool are thought to be unable to bid on any Swansea players unless another team starts the bidding process or according to ESPN, the player himself expresses an interest in moving away from the Liberty Stadium and Laudrup admits it’s hard to keep an unhappy player at the club.
Former Swansea boss Rodgers has been active in his admiration for the midfielder which has led to increased speculation Liverpool would be inclined to make a reported £15m bid for the player, who has been at Swansea since he was just nine-years-old.
Speaking during the start of Liverpool’s tour of America and Canada, Rodgers said of Allen: "I have a great relationship with Swansea but, if there is a market for any of the players, I would like to be in that market, they respect that. He is a very talented player, which everyone knows, but there is nothing more at the moment.”
